History of TIPS
The Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TIPS) is widely known all over the world. It originates from Russia, or more precisely, the USSR. Its author is a Soviet engineer, scientist and inventor Genrikh Altshuller, who decided to turn the art of invention into an exact science. The thesis that invention is the domain of geniuses or the path of trial and error and exhausting brainstorming, Altshuller questioned. From the late 1940s to the early 1970s, more than 40,000 patents and inventions were studied. TIPS was created on the basis of the patterns identified in their analysis.
